Party with care

Episode 445

I am not really into birthdays, but when it comes to the podcast anniversary, other dates of celebration pop up. Like the one by Klaus Schulze, which got celebrated by a tribute album, too. I'm also close to celebrate the weather turning milder, as me and my body are not made for hot temperatures. A big welcome to temperatures below 30 Celsius. Seems a good time to go party. Well, I kind of will for the release of the syndae CD, which will happen at Spaceworks in Hagen. I admit, it's a small location and occasion, but it's where it all started. The podcast's birthplace so to say. And I hope that some of you listeners will join me. But for tonight, let's celebrate with cool music brought to live by Klaus Schulze (Silhouettes), Ansgar Stock (In Love With the Moon), i-One (Singularity), Pharamond (Naturalis Historia), Sonic Chain (The Sound of Syndae).

Cool and the bang

Episode 444

Cannot be too difficult to get a CD ready for print, can it? Well. There are so many details to have your eye on. Especially when it comes to colours usuable for CD labeling. Oh boy. It's all about black magic. But since today, everything should be on its way. Now it's all about waiting for the CDs to arrive at my place and immediately spot a big spelling mistake on the cover... Hope not. Also, with the weather still doing its mediterranian style, I decided to go for some easier music tonight. Nevertheless, the closer will be a track from the upcoming syndae CD. So I hope you have a decent not so hot place and enjoy the tracks by Erik Wøllo (Wind Journey), Stephanie Sante (Clear Light), Klangwelt (The Incident), Harald Gramberg & Sylvia Koloski (Spring Time), Sergey Borovkov (Free Your Mind), and Jim Ottaway (The Sound of Syndae).

The chill is on

Episode 443

Last week, with help of a friend I, finalized cover and print for the upcoming syndae anniversary CD. All tracks are mastered and waiting to be shipped to the cd manufacturer. If all goes well, it will be completed early September and be presented for the first time at Spaceworks in Hagen on September 8th. I will be there and if you are, too, visit me for a chat and check out the CD. I'm quite proud it all has worked out so far. If not in Hagen, you will meet me in Detmold at the Electronic Circus end of September. Ok, enough advertisement, over to some cool music. It's all chill-out style because that's what I need with the temperatures we currently "enjoy." If there is no climate change, my hometown must have drifted south towards Africa. Oh, boy. So, no more talking, just relaxing. With great tracks provided by Branch Line Idols (Decision), Sasha Malkovich (Microcosmos Flashbacks), Espiralia Dub (Espiralia Primordial), Narson Nelson (EC4), Radiotuman (Sakhalin Tales), Stan Dart (MurInsel).

Excellently labeled sounds

Episode 442

While many independent artists nowadays publish their works via their own channels, there still are labels out there, helping out when artists focus on creating music only. Many of those labels use up-to-date media for propaganda publicity and distribution, like social networks and online music stores. A special kind among them are netlabels, who usually offer music as name your price releases or for free. While this sounds like a non-business, their actual goal is to help getting music being heard. Providing a common channel for free artists to be discovered. Recently, it was netlabel day, hence, celebrating the existence and value of these labels. I often do have music from netlabels on the show, and most of tonight's edition are. With the exception of the first, which introduces the label Legacy of Thought to syndae with a single. Have some fun time with wonderful tracks by Time Away (Library of Souls), Abyssal Plains (One Synth), Axiom 23 (Origins), MacroNoise (Continuum), aeuum (Access Frame: Collectivity), Kumharas (Kaosmetric).

The Anniversary CD's Artists

It was a close vote for the submissions, but I finally got a result from the Jury that left me with 12 tracks for the CD. So the album is taking shape, and here we also have a sneak peek on its cover.

More important: These are the artists who will be featured on the syndae anniversary album (in alphabetical order):

  • Chris Gate
  • Dream Within
  • In Vitro
  • Jim Ottaway
  • moonbooter
  • Reskimus
  • Rudolf Heimann
  • Sonic Chain
  • Stan Dart
  • Stefan Erbe
  • That Horologe Machinery Divine
  • y space
Soundful recuperation

Episode 441

It's been a busy week, right after the Schwingungen Scheunenparty in Ahlen. And I am especially happy to have all votes in for the anniversary CD. There is lots to do, before the CD is finished. And soon I will post about the artists who will be on the CD. Of course, I will also have some of the tracks on the show, but not for this edition. I need some rest. Slow down the pace and recharge my batteries. Yes, it's ambient time. Not the most quiet ambient, though. Tracks that still tickle my brain and provide some energy. Have a wonderful evening with tracks by Meg Bowles (Evensong: Canticles for the Earth), In the Branches & Bluetech (Zero Gravity), Tikki Masala (Chilam Impacts 2), Glenn Sogge & Lutz Thuns (Wanderings), Three Fields (Tells).

Spiced up sounds

Episode 440

What kind of driver are you? Is this reflected in the music you listen to while driving? When driving to and from work, I do not care a lot. Maybe this is related to working on this podcast, as I tend to listen to many different styles and sounds these times. When I plan for a longer tour, though, I usually choose some more chilling albums. I am not sure, if aggressive music makes (or suites?) an aggressive driver. There is much going on in traffic, busy and annoying enough, so I prefer the music to relax and cool me down. Not too relaxing of course, don't want to fall asleep at the wheel. So, tonight's edition has the appropriate selection for my ride, as tomorrow I am on the road to Ahlen for the Scheunenparty. And here I found some great fitting tracks by Siddh and Ox7gen feat. Nathan Thomas (Soul Curry), Redox (Binary Forecast), Kaya Project and Noodreem (Zero Gravity), Pulselovers (The Shildam Hall Tap).

Oh, and a short note about the syndae CD: It's getting closer. Some votes are not in, yet, but will be soon. Stay tuned.

The sound's afoot

Episode 439

It's always funny how things turn out different than one thinks. So, best seems to be to have low expectations and get surprised. A truism? Maybe. But it worked out for a planning session this week, so I am quite happy. And I am also happy with the progresson the syndae CD, where I am currently designing the cover. On this, I had some discussions with a designer, of course having some further ideas on details but overall was positive. It sounded honest as well. So only short time until I know about the tracks which made it to the CD. And then it goes to production. Meanwhile, there is an event coming up next week, which is the Scheunenparty in Ahlen, Germany. You still have a few days to register for the event, and tonight's edition starts with two teasers for the live acts, Karl Hefner & Hugh Lagerfeld (Live set B-Wave Festival) and moonbooter (EVIL 18DE). There is more great music to be heard, having tracks by Pretty Glass Folk (Lights), Blinky Blinky Computerband (Four in One), Escape Into (The Mirror), and Hollywood Burns (Invaders).

Sacrosound

Episode 438

When I was done with last weeks show, I knew immediately that I have to have some traditional, sequencing stuff up next. Well, easy to browse through my current catalog but not that easy to pick the right tracks for it. I think I found a pleasing selection for tonight. Also, the day for decision is coming closer, the votes are coming in for the syndae celebration CD. And I am quite curious about what the jury has to say about the submitted songs. So, while this all is very exciting, let's spice it up with magnificent tracks by ARC (Submissions 02), Klangzaun (Ignition), ['ramp] (No Sleep 'til Wilmersdorf), Johan Tronestam (Midgard), Cosmic Ground (Cosmic Ground IV).
