This ain't no pumpkin

Episode 365

Are you up to start slow into the week or do you feel the need to ease your mind before it starts? This might be the show for you then, as we are giving it a quite ambient touch tonight. And it is not about Halloween, not at all, no frighting sounds or noises to make you scream. Honestly, why do some people not believe my words? Bad rep? Ok, no more promises, listen yourself to the wonderful tracks by Howard Givens & Madhavi Devi (Source of Compassion), Aleks Michalski (Interplay), Luna Firma (New Horizons), Altus (Innerspace), 4T Thieves (Waves of Change), David Colohan (The Forest / The Wald), and 1414E08 (Neues aus dem Reich der Traumata)..

Magic scences

Episode 364

Back after a short break, where I was sitting in the sun while Germany starts freezing (har har), we are back with some brand new and recent electronic music whose heritage dates back to the 1980s. Yes, it's time for some sounds of the school era, when sequences and organic sounds dominated our aural experiences. Synths dramatically evolved since those day, but the style and warmth of the early days are still present and can be brought to good use in the right hands. Some of those hands composed and played the tracks on tonight's edition. I'd be happy if you join me for tracks by Syndromeda (When In-Side Becomes Out-Side), Bertrand Loreau featuring Lambert (In Search of Silence), Remy (Fears), Ivan Black (Somnium Hypnotic), Polypores (The Forest / The Wald), HyperEx Machine (A Storm is Coming), and Michael Brückner (The Giant Illusion).

Different perspectives

Episode 363

It was a rainy late night. The wiper smeared the lights of passing cars over my front shield. And the sound of luaghter and cool music still resonated in my brain. Yes. I was on my way home from the impressive Electronic Circus festival this morning. And heaven seemed to know it's gone for this year. Well, no, I'm not sad, it was a great event and I enjoyed it a lot. Not that tonight's show has anything to do with it. Except for it being a short version. But it has magnificent tracks on it, by Dean De Benedictis (Salvaging the Present), Realm (Empyrean), Jim Ottaway (Invisible Vortex), John Novak (Laments of a Chess Automaton), Digital People (Dead Orbit), Glenn Main (Tribute to Jean-Michel Jarre).

Hanging asound

Episode 362

It's one of the last warmer and sunny days over here at my place, and thus will be the music of tonight's edition: relaxed and chilling. So I hope you will find some time to lay back and have a joyful moment listening to these fine tracks. Best to visit a peaceul and nice place in your mind palace, sit down and let your soul hang around following the slower and faster beats of the show, while listening to tracks by Vaporgrave (Split 2), Julian Ray (Space Wanderer), The Pels Syndicate (Life Cycle), Stan Dart (Hometown Menories), Kuba (Society of Inner Light), Three Fields (Island Mixes), Who Ha (Retro Promenade 09.16), Max Jahn (Skyrunner), Heavenchord (In Search of a New Dimension), rob-a (Element EP), and B. Toriyama (Episodes).

Eardrum sex

Episode 361

These food people like experiments. I was always a fan of asian cuisine, be it sweet-and-sour or sweet-and-hot. Now, some time ago (which may be longer than I remember) I found this chocolate having sweet cherries and hot chilli as flavour. Turns out, it's quite tasty and not as gross at it sounded. Listening to some of the albums of tonight, their music reminds me of this sweet and hot combination, putting in ingredience of quite opposite taste making the overall composition an aural explosion. Yeah, I know, it's always a matter of personal likings, but I hope you will have this experience with any of the tracks by Irresistible Force ft. Nik Turner (Society of Inner Light), Uwe Cremer & Thomas Rydell (Time Trilogy), Jazzcomputer.org (Waters), Tonbieger (Strandgut), Eagle (Midnight Radio Compilation 71), Gert Emmens (The Last Alien), TJ Porter (The Outsider), HyperEx Machina (Dimension Home), and Ivan Black (Unbroken Kite Strings).

Aural Roundabout

Episode 360

We just did a full circle. That is, I am happy to announce syndae's 360th edition, one show for every degree of the perfect two dimensional form. Now guess, where the word circus stems from? Right! And all this introduction leads us to the main topic of the show: the Electronic Circus. The festival is right ahead, one month to go, on October 1st. With quite some cool acts and of course all your musical friends are awaiting you. Some teasers, of course, you will find in tonight's edition, as there are Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Ulrich Schnauss, Metroland, BAR*, and Fryderyk Jona. Moreover, I will present fantastic music by Eckul (Codex Internnum), Digital People (Dead Orbit), and Noston (Midnight Radio Compilation 70).

Decent breaks

Episode 359

Oh boy, it is definitely too hot for my Chinchilla. And if that phrase reminds you of a specific song, even that would let me burst into beads of sweat. Incredible weather, nearly freezing last week, boiling hot came this one. So, even I had all the ambient sounds around me in the last edition, I still cannot bear to go the quick and beatful material. Hence, I hope you will join me for a moderate style of easy music, with tracks by Stefan Erbe (Selectronique Debussy), John Novak (Laments of a Chess Automaton), Polyphonics (Secret Silence), A.L.O.N.E. and West Remi (45 Echoes Sounds /50), Pan Electric (Concious Pilot), Cousin Silas & Kevin Lyons (The Time Dwellers), Eagle (Midnight Radio Compilation 70), Kellerkind Berlin feat. Senseo (Midnight Radio Compilation 71), Harald Seeliger, Tim Kays (Into the Rift Volume One), and Push Against New Fakes (Immortality).

Sound is all around

Episode 358

It does not take words or big arrangements to get emotions into music. Listening carefully to this show will offer you a variety of such feelings in a quite quiet form. And I would assume, even if you are not listening, which is one purpose of ambient music, you will still get the hints of moods offered by its vibrations. As you may have guessed, this is a show with more serene and detail loving tracks, provided by Electronic Emotions (Aural Trip), Cousin Silas & Kevin Lyons (The Time Dwellers), Marco Lucchi (Se da Lontano), Eisenlager (Dunkelreise), Elemental Noise (Abstract Knowledge), Chris Russel with Mystified (Reflections in Transit), Lutz Thuns with Askprojekt and Ashot Danielyan (Friends of Ambient 16).

Shorter Waves

Episode 357

Licensing music for broad- or podcasting is always an issue with big label music. In Germany, there only is one copyright collective organization at the moment, and one has to check for licensed music. That is why syndae eis registered to that organization allowing to play some of the music and artists they represent. With this right to play such music come some rules restricing the podcast episode. Hence, tonight's episode has a running time of only 30 minutes. Now you know why. An extended version of the show thankfully is available with the Modul 303 webradio, where you will get more music (see below for details). On this podcast, you will find tracks by the following artists, except for those marked with a star, which are radio only: DeeperNET (The Network), Alpha Wave Movement (Kinetic), Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder ft. Raughi Ebert & Thomas Kagermann (The Repelen EP), Bacila (Midnight Radio Compilation 69), Jean-Michel Jarre* (Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise), On Interrupt and Martins Garden* (Tears in Rain: A Tribute to Blade Runner), and Jamuroo (Ancient Journeys).
