Spiced up sounds

Episode 440

What kind of driver are you? Is this reflected in the music you listen to while driving? When driving to and from work, I do not care a lot. Maybe this is related to working on this podcast, as I tend to listen to many different styles and sounds these times. When I plan for a longer tour, though, I usually choose some more chilling albums. I am not sure, if aggressive music makes (or suites?) an aggressive driver. There is much going on in traffic, busy and annoying enough, so I prefer the music to relax and cool me down. Not too relaxing of course, don't want to fall asleep at the wheel. So, tonight's edition has the appropriate selection for my ride, as tomorrow I am on the road to Ahlen for the Scheunenparty. And here I found some great fitting tracks by Siddh and Ox7gen feat. Nathan Thomas (Soul Curry), Redox (Binary Forecast), Kaya Project and Noodreem (Zero Gravity), Pulselovers (The Shildam Hall Tap).

Oh, and a short note about the syndae CD: It's getting closer. Some votes are not in, yet, but will be soon. Stay tuned.

The sound's afoot

Episode 439

It's always funny how things turn out different than one thinks. So, best seems to be to have low expectations and get surprised. A truism? Maybe. But it worked out for a planning session this week, so I am quite happy. And I am also happy with the progresson the syndae CD, where I am currently designing the cover. On this, I had some discussions with a designer, of course having some further ideas on details but overall was positive. It sounded honest as well. So only short time until I know about the tracks which made it to the CD. And then it goes to production. Meanwhile, there is an event coming up next week, which is the Scheunenparty in Ahlen, Germany. You still have a few days to register for the event, and tonight's edition starts with two teasers for the live acts, Karl Hefner & Hugh Lagerfeld (Live set B-Wave Festival) and moonbooter (EVIL 18DE). There is more great music to be heard, having tracks by Pretty Glass Folk (Lights), Blinky Blinky Computerband (Four in One), Escape Into (The Mirror), and Hollywood Burns (Invaders).

Sacrosound

Episode 438

When I was done with last weeks show, I knew immediately that I have to have some traditional, sequencing stuff up next. Well, easy to browse through my current catalog but not that easy to pick the right tracks for it. I think I found a pleasing selection for tonight. Also, the day for decision is coming closer, the votes are coming in for the syndae celebration CD. And I am quite curious about what the jury has to say about the submitted songs. So, while this all is very exciting, let's spice it up with magnificent tracks by ARC (Submissions 02), Klangzaun (Ignition), ['ramp] (No Sleep 'til Wilmersdorf), Johan Tronestam (Midgard), Cosmic Ground (Cosmic Ground IV).

Soccer and rocker free space

Episode 437

While there is a ball sports hype everywhere on TV these days, this show is guaranteed to be free of it. Nevertheless, it provides a thrilling 30 minutes play. Brand new releases are up for this edition, sounds not to be missed. Where I had some sounds I could not miss lately, as well, coming from a parade of Harley Davidsons having a festival near where I stayed recently. An almost neverending crackling of these heavy machines passing by the only main road of the village. Amazing what sounds seem to please bikers and audience as well. And I definitely prefer the sounds provided by Escape Into (The Mirror), Klangwelt (The Incident), Uwe Reckzeh (Surreal Dreams), VoLt (E-Scape 2018), F.D.Project (E-Scape 2018).

Slow in motion

Episode 436

What a crazy week we had. Somewhat temperaturs like summer, so I wet my shirts instantly. A visit to the dentist, and some painful two following days having "fun with my teeth". Of course, it happened on a public holiday, painkillers to the rescue. So forgive me when I chose rather easy going tracks for tonights show, giving some rest. Now, tomorrow on Saturday is E-Scape 2018. Some of you will be able to attend, some might not. Please, think of getting a VT for the event to support the great artists and to receive cool live recordings from that day. However your weekend goes, have a wonderful half hour time with this edition and tracks by Sverre Knut Johansen with David Helpling (The Vast Expanse), David Wright & DJ Mass (Walking with Ghosts EP), Synth.NL (Schallwelle - Die Besten aus 10 Jahren), Redox (Binary Forecast), Jim Ottaway (Yesterday Passing), mypan (perpetuum musica momentum).

Mind protection regulation

Episode 435

This week marked thee sprint to the finish regarding the General Data Protection Regulation. Quite a fuss on most websites. I barely got as many mails as these past days, for updating the privacy policy or asking for re-confirmation to send mails and newsletters. And exactly todday marks the spot where the new European GDPR is set active. Well, I had to do some work on my own, finding out about some newsletter system needing an update to conform to GDPR. And finally it's kind of done. I'm curious what comes next. But for tonight, I need serenity, especially with respect to music. So quiet but still wonderful tracks on the show tonight, composed by Fringo Chills (...in the nature), Sevensy (Finally Infinite), Simon Wilkinson (Stateless), Steve Roach (Molecules of Motion), Kevin Lyons (Organised Vibrations).

Keys to aural happiness

Episode 434

Back from a weekend family trip, I am up for a new edition of electronic music. And I hope you are, too. Quite some events coming up, so more pointers to where to go for fine live electronics on this show. If you are taking a trip or two, hopefully you have good weather on the way. I did not, and it's definitely no fun riding the highway with rain dropping your sight to about 50 metres. And if it does not work out, some of the events offer virtual tickets as well, so you can even go without going and "be there" even you cannot make it. Ok, I'm off for a longer weekend to catch up on sleep. But surely always listening to great music, like given to us on this editon by Saafi Brothers (The Quality of Being One Remixes Part 2), Code Indigo (Take the Money and Run), Ron Boots, Frank Dorittke & Harold van der Heijden (Derby!), Pyramid Peak (Anatomy), Ray Garrido (Spirare / Compilation).

Adventures in sound

Episode 433

So it is done. The first phase of creating the syndae CD is finished, all submissions registered and send out to the jury. Thanks so much to all who participated in the call! Well, now the artists' works are done, the jury and I are up next. Preparations are on-going. And while an exciting part of the process is done, and the next one is up, I need some music to ease my heart and soul and mind. There's plenty of new stuff on my playlist, but also some events that are afoot. Have a joyful evening with tracks by Erik Wøllo (Threshold Point), Kuba (Animalia), John Kerr & Ron Boots (Juxtaposition Live), Captive Portal (What is?), Bob Holroyd (The Cage).

High voltage

Episode 432

It's just one weekend and the deadline of the call for tracks for the syndae CD is about to close. I can say I am quite excited about putting together an album, and I already have fabulous tracks on my drive to be selected from. Thankfully, it's not me who has to decide which ones to take. I am sorry for any of the tracks not to make it. So, currently I am thinking about the packaging of the album and its design. And actually the name. Any suggestions on how such a compilation should be named? Difficult decision. Well, fortunately I have quite some fresh music to listen to, while running my neurons hot. Excellent releases, I might add, and you will get fresh music by ['ramp] (No Sleep 'til Wilmersdorf), EFSS (Tidal Shift), K.Markov (Excerpt Two), Otarion (Under Surface), Akikaze (Blue Sky Events).
